Newcastle will make an official approach to try and get Craig Bellamy’s controversial sending off against arsenal on Tuesday night, overturned.

A video of the incident has been sent to the F.A and the feeling is that Bellamy will get off. The game attracted a lot of controversial media attention after the game, and the F.A will want to try and not add to this embarrassment.

Newcastle striker Alan Shearer criticised referee Graham’s Poll’s performance, believing the ref who represents England at International level, ‘evened the numbers out’.

He said: "It's very hard to blame the refs because they are put under so much pressure but, while we knew we had a chance against ten men, we had a feeling that he was going to even it out - and he did."
