Boro game hit by Snow

This afternoon's Premiership clash between Middlesbrough and Fulham has been postponed due to heavy snow in and around the Riverside Stadium.

A club statement has been released at Middlesbrough's official website, www.mfc.co.uk, and reads:

"Following a safety inspection all routes leading to the stadium, including pedestrian access, it was decided it was unsafe to allow the game to continue.

A number of factors were taken into consideration, not least of which was the expected deterioration of the weather.

It is very disappointing, especially as the pitch was perfectly playable, but certain seating areas were affected within the ground and with the expected deterioration in the weather there was no other choice but to call the game off.

The safety of spectators is paramount."

No new date for the fixture has been announced.
