The News of the World reports today that Boro striker Alen Boksic is unhappy at the club, and is set for a move away from the Riverside.
Boksic is said to be unhappy at Boro's league position this season, and is annoyed the man who signed him, Bryan Robson, is no longer at the club.
Boksic's form this season has not been very impressive, and many Boro fans will not at all be upset by this news.
Northeastsoccer understands that if a firm offer for Boksic does indeed come in, then Boro will consider selling their star striker. Boksic's £50,000 a week wages is crippling the Boro wage structure, meaning manager Steve McClaren can't bring anyone new in.
However, at Boksic's age, it is unlikely any club will offer over a £1 Million for him, and would even prefer to pay nothing, given his wages.
If Boksic does leave the Riverside, one man who could well replace him is Savo Milosovic. The former Aston Villa man is set for a move, and has attracted much interest from Blackburn Rovers.
Milosovic is regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe, and has improved a great deal since his Villa Park days. Currently applying his trade in Italy, Milosovic finished as second top goalscorer in Euro 2000. Steve McClaren is understood to have been attracted by the players' desire to return to England, and fancies the Yugoslavian Internternational as the natural goalscorer Boro so desperately need.
