Steve McClaren yesterday hit back at claims he is ready to sell defender Ugo Ehiogu, in attempt to generate some much needed money.
McClaren told the Evening Gazette: "I've seen the articles suggesting we'd like to sell Ugo but there's absolutely no truth in them."
"It sends out completely the wrong message over what we are trying to achieve here."
"Ugo's form alongside Gareth Southgate has been superb. He's had a problem with his groin in recent weeks but he remains a central part of my plans for the team." Stressed McClaren.
"I'm not at all interested in selling Ugo. As I've said before, what I'm trying to do is to strengthen the squad with quality players. Ugo is the sort of player I want to build the team around, not sell."
