Carbone agrees Boro loan switch

Middlesbrough are expected to complete the loan signing of Bradford’s Benito Carbone, after the Italian decided to do a u-turn, and join the Teeside club.

Carbone had originally rejected the loan move, after Boro failed to offer him the two year contract he wanted.

Manager Steve McClaren met with Carbone on Thursday, and it looked as if a move was dead. Carbone, who has spent the first part of the season on loan at Derby, originally didn’t want another loan move.

However, Boro have apparently convinced Carbone that he will earn himself a permanat move, if he helps keep Boro in the Premiership. With no other clubs interested, it seems Carbone had no choice but to agree to the move.

A similar move for Carbone broke down at the last minute, last season, with Boro choosing to opt for Dean Windass instead, as again Carbone wanted a permanent move.

Boro have made it clear to the Italian that he will have to earn a full contract. If things go according to plan and Carbone is signed before the 12pm deadline tomorrow, he will go straight into the squad to face Leeds Utd.
