Middlesbrough are expected to hold talks later this week, with Leicester City midfielder Muzzy Izzet over a proposed £6 Million move to the Riverside.
Boro today admitted their interest in the player, and this was later confirmed by Izzet’s agent, who announced talks are set to take place.
Boro boss Steve McClaren still has around £6 Million in the transfer kitty for this season, after moves for Diego Forlan and Dwight Yorke broke down.
The loan signing of Benito Carbone, saved McClaren from spending the money on a striker, although the former Man Utd assistant continues to be linked with Brazilian striker Washington.
McClaren is rumoured to be very interested in signing Izzet, although he is not keen to spend the club’s whole budget on one player. While Leicester would like to receive £6 Million, Boro are unlikely to offer anything above £4.5 Million, for the former Chelsea reserves man.
