Leicester's Muzzy Izzet has turned his back on a £6million move to Middlesbrough, with Steve McClaren describing the deal as "dead in the water" in the press conference which followed Boro's 2-1 win over Blackburn in the F.A Cup 5th round on Saturday.
Izzet held talks with Boro officials on Thursday after the Teesiders' agreed a £6 Million transfer with Leicester at the start of the week. Izzet had said he was impressed with Boro, and that he would 'think things over' the weekend.
However, it seems Izzet is prepared to bye his time at Filbert Street, until a bigger club comes in for him.
It is understood that Izzet's agent leaked news of Boro's interest early in an attempt to get other clubs interested in the former Chelsea man.
McClaren will now have to turn his attentions elsewhere. It is yet another bitter blow in the transfer market for the Boro boss after previously missing out on Diego Forlan and Dwight Yorke.
