Steve Vickers on off transfer to Crystal Palace has finally collapsed after Eagles' manager Steve Bruce was stripped of team affairs. Bruce is currently in dispute with his Chairman after he wasn't allowed to leave for the vacant position at Birmingham.

This has left Bruce in limbo and also now Vickers. With Palace awaiting a new manager, all transfer activity at the club have been postponed for the time being.

It remains to be seen whether the new man in charge at Selhurst Park will want Vickers. Vickers' only other real hope is that Bruce will want to take him to Birmingham with him, if indeed he is allowed to take up the job their. Vickers today said "If Steve Bruce does go to Birmingham he'll want to have a look at the players he's inherited but if he was still interested in me, I would like to go there."
