Middlesbrough have once again been linked with a move for out of favour Manchester United hitman Dwight Yorke.
Former Man Utd assistant and now Boro boss Steve McClaren is rumoured to be leading the chase to sign Yorke. It is understood that United boss Alex Ferguson is keen to hold onto Yorke but is now resigned to losing him as he can no longer guarantee him first team football.
Yorke has found himself left out in the cold so far this season following the signing of Ruud Van Nistelrooy in the summer. Yorke would command a fee in the region of £10 Million, which wouldn’t be a problem for McClaren who has spent little since his time on Teeside.
The Boro boss is said to be thinking the deal over at the moment. The only problem seems to be Yorke’s much publicised heavy social life. McClaren will certainly be taking a risk if he indeed does sign him.
It is not expected that any deal will take place soon however. McClaren is keen to see how the new frontline partnership of Boksic and Nemeth develops before he brings anyone else in.
