Deane close to Filbert Street Switch

Middlesbrough striker Brian Deane is understood to be close to clinching a move to Premiership strugglers Leicester City.

Despite finding some form earlier in the season, Deane has played much of the campaign in the reserves. Boss Steve McClaren is desperate to offload his older players and Deane certainly comes into that category.

The only potential stumbling point is the fee. Leicester are strapped for cash at the moment as new boss Dave Bassett tries to save them from relegation. Boro are thought to want £500,000 for the striker who was bought by Bryan Robson three seasons ago for £3 Million.

Deane would jump at the chance of moving to Filbert Street. He would once again see first team action and the move would be a great one for him considering his years.
