Sunderland boss Peter Reid was delighted with his team's performance against Leeds United on Sunday at the Stadium of Light. The Wearsiders' inflicted the first defeat on the Yorkshire side this season, winning 2-0.

The victory was the best of the season according to Reid "We played against a very good side, with our keeper keeping us in it in the first half with a very good save from Robbie Keane.

"Overall I thought we defended well and the two goals were terrific during a performance which was full of passion and desire, and really good football.

"It's a standard we have to maintain and hopefully it is a result which will kick start our season, although we've got to go to Liverpool next week and that won't be easy. he added.
