Darlington have sack Alex Jeannin, after the French centre-back broke the club's drinking curfew once again. It wasn’t the first time Jeannin had been in trouble for drinking and it seems the club’s patience has finally ran out.

A club statement said: "The ruling of the club is that no player must enter a licensed premises 48 hours before a game. Alex did this on a number of occasions and was asked to leave."

Jeannin was already on the transfer list, but it seems the club wasn’t prepared to put up with the players’ attitude while a club came in for him.

Meanwhile Darlington's FA Cup second round tie at Altrincham's Moss Lane on Saturday, December 8 has been selected for coverage on BBC's Match of the Day. The club will receive a substancial fee, as extended highlights of the game will be shown. The match however will now kick off at 1pm.
