Claudio Reyna will have to wait to make is bow for Sunderland after Rangers confirmed he will be in their squad to face Paris SG in the Uefa Cup on Thursday.
A deal of 5m has already been agreed between both clubs, but Rangers want Reyna to play on Thursday as they haven’t yet bought anyone to replace him.
It was trhought that Reyna would complete the move later this week, in good time for him to make his debut against Chelsea on Sunday. However that seems very unlikely as Peter Reid has his patience tested by the Glasgow club.
Dick Advocaat is resigned to losing Reyna, and said yesterday: "We have a very important game with PSG and after that we will wait and see what happens, but it is possible that game could be Reyna's last.
"That's frustrating for me, but if a player wants to leave, what can you do?
"It's the same situation as when Giovanni van Bronckhorst left to go to Arsenal.
"Claudio also has that chance - he's 28 and wants to play in the Premiership." He added.
