Middlesbrough midfielder Dean Windass has joined first division Sheff Wed on a month's loan.

The former Oxford man, signed just 7 months ago by former manager Bryan Robson, has struggled to make the first team this season. His chances have been very limited and Windass has had to make do with reserve team football so far this season.

However, it seems the Yorkshire club can provide Windass with a route out of the Riverside. They are currently short of cash and have asked Boro if they can take a look at the player, before they decide on a permanant deal.

If Windass impresses it is likely he will move to Hillsborough in something in the region of £500,000. A third of the figure Boro paid Bradford at the end of last season.
