Sunderland have completed the signing of the United States captain Claudio Reyna from Glasgow Rangers in a deal worth £4 Million.

As Northeastsoccer exclusively revealed earlier in the week, the two clubs had already agreed a deal, but Rangers wanted to hold on until after their crucial Uefa Cup game in Paris on Thursday night.

Following the game, Reyna flew straight into talks with Sunderland and immediately agreed terms. The deal was rushed through and Reyna was granted a swift work permit. The speed of the deal means Reyna is free to make his debut in Sunderland's live television clash with Chelsea on Sunday.
